summary // end of the first arc

During the time that Demyx gave Xion to waste, he is finishing up a code that will release a random assortment of accounts (that "just so happens" to include the Kazue siblings') from the virus. Xion spends that time reading the Board, looking for good keywords to try out. She receives an email letting her know that her account is back; she has Sora check his email, and his is back, too. There is a brief moment of feeling victorious, but once it fades, Xion feels oddly unsettled, and she can't pinpoint why. (Spoilers: It's the "freebie" that Xigbar threw her way. She may have gotten what she wanted when she first set out on her quest, but she never truly got any answers. She just doesn't connect the dots yet.)

At the end of the week, there is an event in the World. For a limited time only, there is a new dungeon available to the public. It is said that there is something special in the Gott Statue, but the difficulty of the dungeon makes it unlikely for Xion to be able to do it herself. Sora is partying with his friends for the event, so Xion, not wanting to intrude on his time with his friends, asks Another to come do the dungeon with her. He accepts. While she's waiting for him in the Root Town, she's approached by another player, Baxhel, who asks if she can party with Xion, too. Without thinking that there'd be a problem, she accepts, and they swap member addresses.

What Xion doesn't know is that this character is an alternate for the infamous hacker, Helba. Xehanort sees through her from the start (because Helba literally chose the character's name to troll him), and he almost leaves, but Xigbar encourages him to stay ("you're not gonna let her win, are you"). He stays, alright. In a really bad mood for the entire event. His words are polite, but there's a sharp edge to everything he says. Xion can feel the tension, but doesn't understand it, especially since Baxhel remains pleasant and friendly throughout it all.

Together, they manage to reach the end of the dungeon. The treasure in the Gott Statue for the event is randomized, so it's like a lottery, and reaching the bottom of the dungeon means having a chance at getting an extremely rare item. However, the trio receives only subpar party favors. Xion isn't put out too much by it, having enjoyed herself despite Xehanort's dour temper, but he leaves the party and uses a Sprite Ocarina shortly after they open the treasure chest, citing some obvious excuse as reason for his swift exit. After he leaves, Xion and Helba have a short but meaningful conversation, where the "newbie" gives Xion veiled advice. They thank each other for the adventure and promise to do it again some day and log out.

["she'd figure out what appeals to xion's motivation from their adventure and then use that and her famous cryptic messages to stir xion into action"]

Helba is present in order to take advantage of the chance to observe Xehanort in person. She has been watching the Organization for some time because, hello, a group of hackers? Doing their own thing? Yes, she wants to know what they're up to, especially with the Epitaph of Twilight beginning to come true. Aura was born not too long ago, after all, and who knows what will happen if this group goes and pokes at things that really don't need poked at. She has also been watching Xion ever since she began maintaining contact with Xehanort, and partying with the two of them revealed their true dynamic -- and Xion's true potential in influencing the events around the Organization.
